It would be well advised, before we start out, that practice makes perfect. If you are willing to spend time practicing your skills and have an affinity towards designing you will find jewelery making satisfying both artistically and financially.

IF you are a beginner it would suit you to start at the beginner's level rather than projects you fancy. Again you must learn to walk before you can run.

Let us start with a basic kit you would need for starting jewelery making which are categorized below:

  1. A set of pliers to include side cutters, square flat nose, thin flat nose and round nose.
  2. Micro crimping pliers and micro crimpers
  3. A multi strand shear or wire cutter which can cut through wires like softflex and beadalon
  4. Splitring pliers which help to split rings and key chains without breaking fingernails.
  5. A hacksaw
  6. Jewellery makers cement or glue
  7. High temperature flame.
  8. Soldering rods and device in case you are planning to go down that route.
  9. Wire end Bur which smoothens out the sharp edges on a cut wire.
  10. Burrs for removing the rough edges from the metal works on the same principal and come in various sizes and shapes to access the different recesses and angles of the design. You might need 2 -3 types of burrs on a single complex design.
  11. Color Spectrum matching wheel which helps you decide which colors blend with each other and how the colors you are using will look as an end product.
  12. Twisted Beaded needles which help you in wiring the beads.
  13. A jeweler's bench tool ideally a bench vice.
  14. An EZ sizer you may need different ones for the rings, bangles and necklaces.
  15. Jewel setter for stones in case you wish to make studded jeweler.
